Hinderaker Reunion 2007
Nearly 50 descendants of Hans and Eli Hinderaker gathered in Radcliffe on July 15, 2007 for their annual reunion. Family members traveled from throughout Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin to attend the annual celebration. The day began with a buffet dinner at the Cardinal Cafe. The festivities then continued at the American Legion Building.
There were several displays available for viewing and discussion. A photo slide show played throughout the day exhibiting pictures of family members in both the United States and on Karmøy in Norway. A display depicting Eli Halvorsdtr Hinderaker and her journey to America at the age of 78, in 1910 was especially compelling. Many people shared photos of special events, which occurred in their families during the past year. Four families shared theirs photos of Norway, which were taken during their trips last summer. These family members re-acquainted themselves with the land of our ancestors and met some of our Norwegian cousins. Finally, there was a memorial display, honoring those family members who died during the last twelve months.
All those attending received CD’s, which contained document files about The Ancestors of Andrew and Halvor Hinderaker, through their parents, Hans and Eli. The family history dates back into the late 1400’s.
